How to install HP Laserjet 1020 driver for Mac OSX?

HP Laserjet 1020 printer model is quite old and outdated and officially does not support Mac’s but there is a workaround if done correctly, you can use the printer with your Mac’s.

Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to your Mac. Open System Preferences Printers & Sanners. Click the plus sign and select the listed 1020 printer. Within the Use drop down menu click on Select Printer Software, locate and select the HP Laserjet 1022 and press Add. Now try prining using the added print queue and check if that may. Power on your printer and connect it to your Mac. Open System Preferences Printers & Scanners and press the plus sign. Select the shown Laserjet 1020 printer, press the Use drop down menu and click on Select Printer Software. Locate and select the HP Laserjet 1022 and press Add. Find support and troubleshooting info including software, drivers, and manuals for your HP LaserJet 1022 Printer series. The HP LaserJet 1022 Printer Hostbased Plug and Play Basic Driver provides basic printing functions. If the driver is already installed on your system, updating (overwrite-installing) may fix various issues, add new functions, or just upgrade to the available version.

  2. Turn on the HP laserjet 1020 printer and connect to your Mac PC through USB cable.
  3. Add new printer select the plus sign.
  4. On the HP printers list select HP Laserjet 1022 (not 1020)
  5. Once installed print a test page.
